In light of the recent Daredevil trailer, I thought it would be a good idea to take a look at some of the characters in this show and who they were in the comics.
Foggy is Matt’s partner in law. He was Matt Murdock’s roommate in college. At different points, he was competing for the affection of Karen Page or being accused of murder. Foggy is a pivotal part of Matt’s story. He is being portrayed by Elden Henson.
Ben Urich has his origins in Spider-Man comics, but he became a pillar in the story of Daredevil. Ben discovered the identity of Daredevil. Rather than cashing in on his Pulitzer Prize winning discovery, Ben protects the identity, often at great cost to himself. Ben is being portrayed by Vondie Curtis-Hall.
Karen Page was the original love interest of Matt Murdock. She was the secretary for Nelson-Murdock. She dated Foggy and was engaged to Matt, but it didn’t last forever. She became a druggie and a porn star (dark turn, right?) before selling out Matt’s identity for drugs. She returned to Matt for salvation, but discovered she was HIV positive. She then was killed by Bullseye. Her story is extremely up and down. We will have to see how much will cross over to the Netflix show. Karen is being portrayed by Deborah Ann Woll.
Stick is the man who taught Daredevil how to be BA. He trained Matt from a young age. Stick is blind, just like Matt. He warned Matt to not pursue Elektra, long before she became an assassin. When Daredevil lost his powers, he found Stick to get his abilities back. Stick is being portrayed by Scott Glenn.
Leland Owlsley was one of Daredevil’s first supervillains. He was a crime boss who also wore a special suit that allowed him to glide. He was one of the chief villains in Daredevil’s life for the first 100 issues or so. In the TV series, I doubt we will see his flying abilities. He is being portrayed by Bob Gunton.
There are a couple other characters who are listed on IMDB, such as Rosario Dawson’s character of Claire Temple, who was a love interest for Luke Cage. There’s also Ayelet Zurer, who plays Vanessa Marianna, the Kingpin’s wife in the comics (big in the Elektra story arc). Finally, there’s Toby Leonard Moore playing Wesley, who is rumored to be Kingpin’s right hand man. With the exception of Stick, all these characters in this article will be in every episode of Daredevil. As to their portrayals or what we can expect from the characters, only time will tell.
