The Fantastic Four trailer was revealed the other day. Although it showed us more than most teaser trailers do, it still showed us basically nothing about the story of the film. There were a couple things that we did see, however. I screenshotted them straight from the trailer and I’m leaving the time markers so you can look yourself, if you want.
It’s dark, but it was only on screen for a moment. Grimm Salvage. Presumably the family company of Ben Grimm.
Child-scientists. This is a very “Ultimate” idea. Although Reed was always one of the smartest in the Marvel Universe, it was the Ultimates that had Reed and Ben doing science while children. I think it’s safe to assume the boy on the right is Reed. I don’t know if we can assume the one on the left is Ben.
Evidently the method by which the FF first go into the Negative Zone.
If you count the bodies going into the zone, there are six. In the Ultimates, it was five (the fifth being Dr. Doom). Who is this sixth person? Perhaps Mole Man, rumored to be the villain for this movie?
Did Ben molt and then break out? I’m not quite sure. This is very likely Ben, however. Some may say it’s Mole Man. It’s unclear right now.
Doctor Doom? Unclear, but probably. I think we can say that he is wearing a metal mask.
Now this is interesting. I’m willing to be that this is our first look into the Negative Zone, but it bears great resemblance to the machine that sent the Fantastic Four to the Negative Zone in the Ultimates. Originally, it was built in the middle of the desert. In later Ultimates, this same machine was used as a “Big Bang Gun” against the Ultimate Galactus. The image of the gun firing was very similar to this one.
I’m not saying that I predict Galactus in this film. I am saying that they are borrowing heavily from the Ultimates.
What did you think of the trailer? Did it make you more or less excited for the movie? Sound off in the comments. There are plenty of questions that we all have for the film, but for now only time will tell.
