Since the beginning of this blog, I have been kicking around different theories for Ultron. As we approach the first glimpses of a trailer, the cast members have opened up a little bit on what Ultron is like. Robert Downey Junior merely said that he is the “best bad guy ever”. Paul Bettany has opened up a little more with some details. But what facts do we actually know about Ultron?
James Spader, of The Office and the Blacklist, is playing Ultron. To specify, they say he is more than just the voice, but that his very facial motions will be captured. I don’t know how this will play into the ultimate robot, but we shall see. I like the idea of a machine with facial expressions, but I don’t know how it can be done.
Joss Whedon, the brilliant director of the film, has said, “Ultron sees the big picture and he goes, ‘Okay, we need radical change, which will be violent and appalling, in order to make everything better.’ He’s on a mission. He wants to save us.” It sounds a little bit like i Robot or numerous other robots-take-over scenarios, but I am confident it will be different, only because of the creative forces behind it.
We also recently got our first look at the villain on an Entertainment weekly magazine cover. Check him out:
So that’s what we know for sure. Admittedly, it’s not much. I’m still in the increasing camp of fans who believe that Ultron is created by Tony Stark, but for now, only time will tell.
Check back tomorrow for the up-to-date casting of Daredevil.
